Day 5 - Going to the Sun Road

Today we went to Glacier and found that the rain held out, but the clouds settled in. It was still gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but I will definitely have to come back here someday when Logan Pass is open and the Going to the Sun Road, is actually sunny. We were going to go on a hike, but ended up just driving up as far as we could into the park and doing some smaller walks. Maybe we'll go back tomorrow if it doesn't rain/snow too much and do the hike I was eyeing up all day. You can see the entrance sign below along with a great picture of Lake McDonald (click on this one to blow up, its worth it). We went in the main entrance to the park, however, there are a billion other angles one could explore here. Hence, me needing to come back...

On the way up the Going to the Sun road, we encountered this waterfall plummetting down the mountainside. How cool :) Once we reached this point (a few miles before Logan Pass) we started getting some snow flurries. This was our first snow of the year!

Once we got to Logan Pass, the temperature had dropped about 10 degrees and the road was closed ahead, so we just took some pictures of Heaven's Peak across the way. We definitely were going to the clouds, rather than going to the sun! I love this different perspective of Heaven's Peak. Even though it was cloudy and snowing a bit, I am thankful that I got a chance to see the park this time of year.

I just couldn't stay away from the streams in this park. They were so clear, green, and full of gorgeous colors! And, do you even need to ask where the women at Mountain Colors get their inspiration?! The first picture is of McDonald Creek and the second is of Avalanche Gorge.

Thats it for today! If the weather is nice tomorrow, we will probably go back to the park. If the weather is bad, we aren't sure what we are going to do... Either way, I'll post something new tomorrow! Have a great weekend everyone!

Looks like you're having a great time. Love the Chevron Scarf you started. what a gorgeous colorway! Thanks for the scenery. It's pretty boring here in Iowa. Love to see the pictures on your blog.
