My Poor Table

I'm sorry to say that my dining room table is totally neglected. We rarely eat there since its usually covered in yarn. This is what it looked like yesterday:

Tomorrow I'll be 80 skeins or so lighter... but there are still 20 or so skeins up for grabs at Sunshine Yarns. I'm getting a little worried about my shoulder this week. The reskeining is killing me! I made it through 11 years as a competitive swimmer where I trained 20-30 hours a week, yet its the yarn that is finally causing injury. If anyone wants centre-pull balls, please ask! Its so much easier for me to wind than reskein! :)

As for other news, I have some, but it will have to wait until later.. I gotta run! :)

Have you considered getting a skein winder (for an example, see http://www.pacificwoolandfiber.com/spinning%20accessories.htm -scroll down to skein winders). They are pretty expensive new, but most antique stores have them for much less money. They would let you wind the yarn into skeins by just turning a handle.

Go ahead and wind my Black Olive into a center-pull ball, if you like. I'd be doing that myself anyway, so you'll save me a few minutes. ;-)

I'm absolutely good with a center-pull ball. Anytime you want to ship my yarn that way, feel free! BTW, I ordered a skein this morning... ;)

And I really need to get you a better photo of those Campfire socks. The one you have is a nighttime, flash photo. Ugh. They're so much prettier than that.

Ouch!! Is it the crazy niddy noddy action? I had pain from my niddy noddy and after cutting 2" off it (it's PVC), no more pain.

You don't have to reskein mine -- I know what they'll look like, just send them in their original form. I had to reskein a bunch of yarn at the shop so it would sell and I can totally relate...

Besides your talent with yarn and color...I am so impressed with your work ethic!

Take care!

Your poor arms! Sounds like you need a high-speed skein winder thingy. I bet you can find a good one somewhere!

I've used my swift to re-skein off the ball winder (or another skein) - I just twirl it from the top with my finger. Easier for me than the niddy noddy.....your poor shoulders!

Beautiful yarns! I'll have to check back when they go online. I'm sorry to hear about your poor shoulders!! (What was your stroke/distance/event back in the day?)

Dani, I love your yarns and I would love for them to come in a ball :)....although I like looking at them as a skein, I like to be able to just use them right away after I receive them...too darn lazy to wind them myself, LOL.
