Yay for Baking!

My cousin is hosting a small shower today and asked me to make the desserts. There is a Canadian seashore theme, hence the boats and lighthouses! I had a lot of fun doing them and had to cut all the cookies out by hand since I had no cookie cutters in those shapes. The other bar cookies are Nanaimo bars, a supposedly famous Canadian bar cookie. Those damn things are rich! Canadians must have a high tolerance for sugar with all that maple syrup up there.. Don't they just chug the stuff?!

I think the shower will be a success... My cousin has made tons of cute things and she is making Maple leaf-shaped personal size pizzas. I promise I will post some knitting tomorrow!

OMG those look amazing Dani - you're good! How long did they take you? I WAS going to make raspberry bars today but somehow the day got away from me watching Law & Order SVU dvds (Isn't Rich the best? I came home from work yesterday and the 5th season was here waiting for me) and finishing all the knitting on the WIP (I still have to block and seam, but the actual knitting is DONE!) And of course, I can't start the bags I wanted to, because my orders havent come in yet. I'm thinking it's time to revisit the socks, except my friend is coming over to hang out tonight (girls night, bad breakup for her).

Can I have a cookie? :)

Those look really yummy and so cute! I have to ask if the "8605" on the sailboats is significant?

Thanks everyone for your nice comments! Just FYI, the 8605 is the wedding date.. August 6, 2005. I was going to put 080605 or Aug 6, 2005 but it wasn't going to fit... So 8605 it is!

those cookies look amazing. i am sure my kids would love me more if i made cookies like that (instead of the kind that come in a tube a la pilsbury). i am totally jealous of your soon to be hourglass sweater - the lettuce colour is lovely (i can't seem to get enough of green lately)

WOW! Those cookies are fabulous! :) I'd have a hard time eating them, they are so cute but I'd get over it quickly. ;)
