New Knitting

I've been starting some new projects these past few weeks and just have been lazy about taking pictures! Here they are...

The first project is the V-Neck Vest from Jo Sharp's Knit, Issue 1. This is a really nice book with lots of simple, classy and wearable patterns. I am using one of her new yarns called Alpaca Silk Georgette. This is a sport weight yarn, so beware if you are afraid of knitting on US3's.... How lovely is this green?! So. Lovely.

The second project was a total splurge this past Saturday. I have been eyeing up Felicia's take on Cosmicpluto's Lucy In the Sky Cardigan and decided I just had to make one IMMEDIATELY! Twelve balls of Debbie Bliss cashmerino aran "followed" me home and I have already made good progress. Alison even helped me choose a color outside my normal blue, green, brown realm. Check it out... the color is called wine!

Take Me To Paradise

Just in time for sock season... my new favorite pair of socks:

Pattern: Just a basic toe-up sock with a short row heel and toe
Yarn: Sunshine Yarns in the Paradise colorway
Measurements: Made to fit my foot (US 8.5)! I did an 11" leg and still have enough yarn left over for some baby socks :)
Started: August 28, 2006
Finished: September 21, 2006
Other Details: Knit on a 2.5mm with 62 stitches

A side note: I've been playing with all the "sock possibilities" this year (aka toe-up, top down, short row vs. heel flap, etc. etc.) and have now come to the conclusion that I hate doing toe-up socks. My favorite combination is a top down short row heel and toe.. however, I like to graft the toe on the bottomside (no, you can't feel anything).

Too Cute

How cute is this little finished Sirdar cardigan?! So cute! I knit this thing in about a week, but had to wait a bit to find the right buttons. Unfortunately there was really no one in mind for this sweater, since my pregnant friends are either having girls or aren't finding out, so it will live with me in the meantime. I would also have no problem keeping this stored away for someday...

Pattern: Sirdar #1674
Yarn: Instead of Snuggly DK, I used Rowan Cashsoft DK in #517, #510 and two others I lost the labels for :)
Measurements: 9-12 month size
Started: August 25, 2006
Finished: September 10, 2006
Other Details: Super fun knit, if you don't mind weaving in all those ends.. I started out knitting it in pieces and wish I had just done the two fronts and the back together.. owell :)

This And That

I feel all over the place today. Lots of little things to do, but no organization over here. Need buttons, need to stop at Staples, catfood? Nope, bought catfood last week. Ah, yes, food for us! I forgot about that..

This is how my day is going so far. No wonder. Its a hard day for all of us and I just keep on thinking back to five years ago. I was still a junior in college and heading to class when I heard to news. Only an hours drive away.. chaos. I still remember seeing the smoke. Man, its crazy to think about how much has changed in five years. I've been through grad. school, my first job, a new business. Its pretty crazy, but a good time to reflect.

Yes, knitting. I still need buttons for a finished Sirdar baby sweater (which is on my list of things to do today), so you should see that soon. But, alas! Something super cute! The baby bolero from One Skein:

The bolero is for a friend that is due ANYDAY! I'm dropping it off for her tonight so that she can get some good use out of it these next couple of weeks :)

Pattern: Baby Bolero from One Skein
Yarn: Blue Sky Organic Cotton in color #80 natural
Measurements: Newborn
Started: September 8, 2006
Finished: September 9, 2006
Other Details: Super cute and quick! Will definitely be making more of these in the future :)

I also started a new pair of socks a couple weeks ago and forgot to post about them until now :) I finished the first one a few nights ago and love how they are turning out. I'm using my own yarn in the Paradise colorway... ahh, fall, such a wonderful time for handknit socks...

Oh, and I almost forgot!!! Go check out my store tomorrow, Sept. 12, for my 1 year celebration. Free goodies with every order!!!
